WSFS Bank Sportsplex Opens on Chester Waterfront
August 22, 2025 4:07 pmBPGS Construction, in partnership with the Philadelphia Union and WSFS Bank, is proud to announce the official ribbon cutting of the WSFS Bank Sportsplex.
The $100 million venue spans 170,000 square feet and covers 32 acres between Subaru Park and the Union Power Plant. This transformative project provides year-round recreation while creating significant economic and community impact for the Delco and Chester regions.
A World-Class Facility for Athletes and Fans
The project will double as The Union’s training and Academy hub and offers seven outdoor multi-sport fields designed for soccer, lacrosse, and other competitive sports. Inside, athletes can access a full-size indoor turf field and two versatile multi-sport courts. Additional features include an 8,000-square-foot performance center for strength and conditioning and a 5,000-square-foot flex-space for athletic training. A café located on-site gives athletes, families, and fans a convenient place to gather before or after games. The complex also includes a dedicated support building for Philadelphia Union II and the Philadelphia Union Academy. These facilities strengthen the Union’s ability to train future talent and enhance professional player development, as the only MLS Club with a fully unified training facility for its first team, second team, and youth academy.
Strengthening the Chester Waterfront Community
The Sportsplex was designed with community impact at its core. It will host tournaments, leagues, and programs that bring people together year-round. WSFS Bank has pledged 365 hours of facility use each year for local non-profit organizations. This commitment reflects the bank’s “We Stand for Service” mission and its dedication to the communities it serves. The project is expected to generate $90 million in economic impact over the next decade. Projections also show more than 500,000 visits annually, helping transform Chester into a regional destination for sports and recreation.
BPGS and The Philadelphia Union

The WSFS Bank Sportsplex showcases our expertise in executing complex, large-scale projects that meet community goals. Its grand opening represents more than a completed project—it reflects the power of partnership, vision, and investment. BPGS Construction is honored to help strengthen Chester’s waterfront while supporting the Philadelphia Union’s continued growth, building on a vision that began 25 years ago when Union first set their sights on the waterfront for Subaru Park Stadium.
