PROJECT COMPLETION: Sprinturf Performance Park at Kirkwood
November 4, 2026 10:04 pmBPGS Construction is proud to share the completion of major improvements at Sprinturf Performance Park in New Castle, Delaware. Formerly known as Kirkwood Sports Complex, the 65-acre athletic facility underwent a multi-phase renovation to upgrade its outdoor playing fields, indoor turf arena, lighting, and supporting site infrastructure.
The $10 million renovation was completed in partnership with Buccini Pollin Group and marks the first major capital improvement project at the facility in more than 30 years. The work included the conversion of four natural grass fields to all-weather synthetic turf, replacement of an existing synthetic turf field, improvements to the remaining grass fields, and upgrades to the indoor arena.
Project Scope
Additional improvements throughout the property included:
- Outdoor Athletic Fields: Four natural grass fields converted to synthetic turf, replacement of the existing synthetic turf surface, and improvements to remaining grass fields.
- Sports Lighting: New lighting for outdoor athletic facilities and upgrades to the indoor turf arena.
- Indoor Turf Arena: Renovations to the existing indoor playing facility.
- Parking and Site Improvements: Expanded parking capacity and improvements to site circulation.
The renovation also included a reconfiguration of the outdoor field layout, reducing the number of playable fields from 14 to 12 to accommodate additional parking.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 29 marked the end of the first phase of the multi-phase site overhaul and the return of the property to daily operations under its expanded layout.
BPGS Construction is proud to have worked alongside its project partners to deliver these improvements at Sprinturf Performance Park. The completed work supports the continued use of the facility by local athletic organizations, visiting teams, and tournament organizers.
