BPGS Construction recently completed Hidden Falls, a new year-round mixed-species habitat at the Brandywine Zoo in Wilmington, Delaware. The $2.5 million project includes a 32,000-square-foot outdoor habitat and a climate-controlled indoor care building designed to support year-round animal care and public viewing.

Project Scope

Designed with animal care and guest experience in mind, Hidden Falls features:

  • Outdoor Habitat: Naturalistic landscaping with real and artificial trees for climbing, a waterfall, and filtered stream.
  • Indoor Care Building: Climate-controlled space with heating, air conditioning, and humidity control.
  • Keeper Support: Specialized spaces to support day-to-day animal care and operations.
  • Flexible Habitat: Adaptable features designed to accommodate future species.

The completed habitat is now home to red-footed tortoises, Patagonian maras, and Guianan squirrel monkeys, with a green iguana expected to join the habitat soon.

Made possible through public and private donations, Hidden Falls expands the Brandywine Zoo’s capacity for year-round animal care while creating an engaging environment for visitors. BPGS Construction is proud to have managed construction for this unique project and to have worked alongside the Brandywine Zoo and project partners to bring Hidden Falls to completion.
