BPGS Construction Celebrates Residential Groundbreaking on UD STAR Campus
May 22, 2025 6:14 pmIn partnership with Buccini Pollin Group (BPG) and the University of Delaware, BPGS Construction has officially broken ground on a transformative residential project at the University’s STAR (Science, Technology and Advanced Research) Campus in Newark. This $75 million development will become the first multifamily community built on the university’s innovation-driven campus.
A Bold Collaboration with Lasting Impact
Designed by DIGSAU, a Philadelphia based architecture firm, the community will reflect both function and modern form. The project will include two seven-story buildings, connected by a dramatic glass skybridge. Together, they will span 235,000 square feet. Once complete, the buildings will offer 229 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments. Homes will range from 600 to 1,100 square feet. Each unit will feature quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, light wood-tone flooring, and in-unit washers and dryers. Select apartments will offer private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows for natural light.
Community-Centered Amenities
Future residents will enjoy indoor and outdoor amenities designed for comfort and connection. Highlights will include:
- Resort-style pool with grilling and dining areas
- Landscaped courtyard, pickleball court, and fenced dog run
- Indoor half-court basketball and full fitness center
- Resident Lounge, game room, and communal kitchen
The property will also include 231 parking spaces and ample bike storage helping to connect the complex with the surrounding community.
Fueling Growth at UD STAR Campus and Beyond
This development is part of a growing pipeline of projects curated by BPGS and Buccini Pollin Group, in partnership with the University of Delaware. BPGS previously delivered the University Bookstore and Bloom Energy, the first building on the now STAR Campus. Further, the new complex is expected to generate 230 construction jobs and help expand the STAR Campus into a thriving mixed-use district. Buccini Pollin Group and BPGS Construction will manage the development, while BPG’s residential affiliate, ResideBPG, will handle leasing and property management.
