Nemours Children’s Hospital Administrative Office Building

Nemours Children’s Hospital Administrative Office Building
1600 Rockland Dr // Wilmington, DE

BPGS Construction completed Phases I and IIA of the Administrative Office Building on the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware campus. The project transformed the original Administrative and Research Building, constructed between 1939 and 1940, into a modern, 150,000 SF administrative facility while preserving its historic character.

Working in collaboration with Tevebaugh Architecture, the project began with comprehensive investigative and stabilization efforts to prepare the structure for renovation and long-term use. Core and shell improvements included interior demolition, façade restoration, window replacement, installation of a new roofing system, and construction of a new stair tower and elevators.

Following stabilization, the interior fit-out delivered:

  • 45 private offices

  • 7 open work areas

  • 9 huddle rooms

  • 2 conference rooms

  • 1 mother’s room

  • Break and lounge area

Throughout construction, the team carefully restored several notable architectural elements, including the Auditorium Lobby, copper exterior light fixtures, a mercury-gilded chandelier, and the original patient drop-off canopy.

The result is a modern administrative workplace that supports Nemours Children’s Health operations while maintaining the integrity of a historically significant campus structure.
