Senior Project Engineer
Job Purpose
Senior project engineers work with superintendents and/or project managers to obtain field and project management operations experience in all phases of construction. This position is a pathway towards a career as either a construction project manager or construction superintendent.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in the buy-out strategy and execution for assigned bid packages. Responsibilities would include preparing scopes of work, facilitating the bid process, evaluating submitted bids, conducting scope review meetings with subcontractors and final selection of successful subcontractors.
- Assist in the evaluation of design documents for completeness, clarity, and constructability.
- Manage the RFI process for assigned Bid Packages.
- Manage the submittal process for assigned Bid Packages with a focus on conformance with the design and the coordination with other trades.
- Manage costs associated with assigned Bid Packages with a focus on change negotiations and cost projections.
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in identifying and resolving conflicts on a daily basis.
- Mentor Project Coordinators assigned to the project team.
- All other duties assigned.
Qualifications

- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
- Must have excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Must be detail oriented and be accurate in composing and proofing materials.

- Must have strong leadership and decision making skills.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architectural engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering and/or an equivalent combination of experience and continuing education.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience with a commercial general contractor
- Previous project management experience
- Proficient in Microsoft suite
- New construction project experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Requires standing, walking, and sitting.
- Requires frequent operation of equipment.
- Frequent stretching and / or bending to access equipment, objects, etc.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
